William L. Belmer Sr.

William “Bill” L. Belmer Sr. of Waukesha passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at the age of 89. He was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa on September 21, 1936 the son of Winford Godfrey and Hildred Flossie (nee Lott) Belmer. Bill proudly served his country in the United States Navy. On December 14, 1957, he married the love of his life, Arlene Sholtz at First United Methodist Church where they were longtime members; she preceded him in death on July 12, 2022. During their retirement years, Bill and Arlene enjoyed the warmth and sunshine of Arizona before returning to their beloved Wisconsin. An avid poet, Bill also had a passion for sports, being a loyal fan of the Brewers, Bucks, and Packers. He took great joy in music, actively participating in a Barber Shop Chorus and quartet as a member of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America, Inc. (SPEBSQSA). Above all, Bill cherished his family, and he will be remembered as a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.

He will be sadly missed by his sons Brent Belmer and Bryan (Laurie) Belmer; his grandchildren, Chelsey (Chris) Pings, Brittany (Gabe) Morales, Taylor Belmer, Bo (Kate) Belmer, Carleen (Michael) Rogers, Brett (Brittany) Belmer and Robert Belmer Jr., three great-grandchildren and another on the way. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his wife Arlene, he was preceded in death by three of his sons, Bradley Belmer, Robert Belmer Sr. and William Belmer Jr.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 8, 2026, from 1:30pm until the 3:00pm funeral service at Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha. Private burial will be at Prairie Home Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Bill’s name are appreciated to MUSIC6S (15427 W. National Avenue New Berlin, WI 53151) a charity that provides music education and performance opportunities to military personnel, veterans, firefighters, police officers, and medical professionals.
