Theresa "Terry" S. Stencel

Theresa S. Stencel “Terry”, age 65, of Waukesha, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2026, surrounded by family. She was born on January 14, 1961, in Milwaukee to Thomas and Evelyn Stencel (nee Collard). Terry was the second of three children and embraced that role with grace throughout her life.

She graduated from U.W. Whitewater with a degree in elementary education (Physical Education) and had acquired multiple advanced degrees in Curriculum and Development. Terry taught PE for 32 years in the Waukesha School District, primarily at Hawthorne and Meadowbrook Elementary. Her classroom was a second home where hundreds of students learned not just the value of health and exercise, but kindness, teamwork and resilience.

She loved all Wisconsin sports teams, especially the Packers, made the best breakfast egg bake, and always had time to lend an ear to just “listen” even on your worst days.

Terry is survived by her older brother Tony and his wife Vicky, sister Cathy Pilo (Stencel) and husband Brian, nephews Andrew and Alexander Stencel, niece Julia Stencel, aunt Rosemary Collard and numerous friends. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Tom and Evelyn.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 17, 2026 from 9:30 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. funeral Mass at Corpus Christi Parish-St. William Church, 440 N. Moreland Blvd., Waukesha, WI 53186. Private inurnment will follow for family at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in Terry’s memory.
