Sylvia Beringer Trewyn

Sylvia J. Beringer Trewyn closed the final chapter of her story peacefully at Oak Hill Terrace in Waukesha, Wisconsin on May 27th 2026, aged 89. A longtime resident of Waukesha, she was born on June 6,1936 to parents Joseph and Maria (nee Farago) Beringer, one of eight siblings in a Hungarian immigrant household. Sylvia dedicated her career to one of her greatest loves: books. She worked at Schwartz Bookshop as a children's book specialist,befriending award-winning authors and bringing joy to countless children. Sylvia was a master storyteller and purveyor of culture from her worldwide travels. She and her husband , Charles, enjoyed many wonderful road trips together. She passed along her love of music and the arts to her children and grandchildren.

Sylvia is survived by her husband Charles Trewyn; her loving children Krista(Jim) Olen and Paula Duval, grandchildren Graham and Lilly Olen; sister Dorothy Boxhorn; stepchildren Andrea Strom, Jennifer Hartlaub,TimTrewyn, Ted Trewyn and Carrie Fiebig and other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her siblings, parents and other family members.

Memorials in Sylvia's name are appreciated to the Waukesha Public Library Endowment Fund.

Sylvia will be laid to rest privately at Prairie Home Cemetery.
