Stephen D. Dlapa of New Berlin, passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at the age of 56. Born in West Allis on November 29, 1969, he was the son of Rudy and Margaret (McKenzie) Dlapa. Steve honorably served in the United States Navy for 11 years and continued his dedication as a reservist for six years. After his military service, he worked for the USDA Forest Service and then served as the facilities director at Bridge Church in Waukesha. A spirit-filled Christian, he is remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Steve is survived by his wife Jean (nee Erdmann) who he adored, his children Caitlin (Jordan) Mertens, Cortney (Noe) Perez, Connor Dlapa, and Carter Dlapa, and his grandchildren who referred to him as “Pop”, Sage Justus Mertens, Iris Noble Mertens, Ember Jubilee Mertens, and Jace Perez. He leaves behind other relatives and numerous friends who will miss him dearly.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026, from 1:00 PM until the memorial service at 3:00 PM at Bridge Church, 1314 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha. The service will conclude with full military honors, followed by a meal. Private interment will take place at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Steve’s name are appreciated and may be directed to the family for donation to be made to the Unity Chapel at the VA Medical Center.
