Waukesha

Sharon Ann Wood of Waukesha passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 5, 2026 at the age of 83 years, with family by her side. She was born in Beaver Dam on March 4, 1943 to Lester and Bernice (nee: Stolarski) Hollnagel. Sharon was the salutatorian of the Fox Lake High School Class of 1961 and a graduate of University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. She began her career as a teacher and later worked as a trainer for Blue Cross/Blue Shield. While teaching at Pilgrim Park Middle School, in Elm Grove, Sharon met Richard “Dick” Wood, the two fell in love and were blessed with 56 years together.

Sharon and Dick were devoted Wisconsin Badger Football fans and longtime season ticket holders. Together, they attended many home games and bowl games, creating lasting memories and lifelong friendships with fellow Badger fans along the way.

Sharon had a passion for travel and embraced every opportunity to explore the world. She and Dick enjoyed many memorable vacations together—camping in the Boundary Waters, sailing the Caribbean, exploring historical sites throughout the country and attending Reimer family reunions. Her most recent adventures included trips to Germany and to Greece with members of St Luke’s Lutheran Church.

A lover of the arts and literature, Sharon enjoyed attending performances at Marcus Performing Arts Center in Milwaukee and the American Player Theatre in Spring Green. Sharon was also an avid reader, participating in several book clubs in the Waukesha / Milwaukee area.

Faith and love for others were important parts of Sharon’s life. She was an active member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, serving as President and on multiple committees. Sharon volunteered with the Waukesha Center for Literacy Services of Wisconsin and proudly served on the Board of Directors of The Women’s Center.

Sharon built strong and lasting friendships throughout her life. Her kindness, loyalty and genuine interest in others touched the lives of many, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

She will be sadly missed by her brother and sisters-in-law, Dennis (Bonnie) Hollnagel, Raymond “Buck” (Sue) Hollnagel; nieces and nephew, Lonnie (Dave) Rohr, Lester (Pam) Hollnagel, Kimberly (Jason) Koch along with great nieces and nephew, Ellie Scott, Eddie Scott, MacKenzie Koch and Jackilyn Koch.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard “Dick” “Woody”, aunts, uncles and cousins.
