Robert “Bob” C. Jakus, age 91, of Waukesha, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at home on January 21, 2026. Born on September 29, 1934, in West Allis, he was the son of Michael and Theresa (nee Schleis) Jakus.
Bob was a proud veteran who served honorably in the United States Army and the National Guard. On May 29, 1965, he married his beloved wife, Barbara (Mattrisch) Jakus, with whom he shared 60 treasured years of marriage.
Bob graduated from DeVry Technical Institute, and started work in Quality Control at Square D. Starting in 1972, he worked in Sales for Waters Industrial Supply, Ace Welding and Safety Supply, and retired from Able Equipment in West Allis, WI. Bob also worked part-time as a flight instructor at Crites Field in Waukesha.
He had a passion for speed that extended to various forms of racing, including ice-boat racing, go-cart racing, and attending various drag racing events alongside his son, Tim. Bob was particularly fond of visiting Reno, Nevada, where he attended the National Championship Air Races for over 30 years.
In retirement, Bob cherished moments spent with friends over coffee at McDonald's and creating lasting memories with his wife on numerous Caribbean cruises. They owned a 30ft Bayliner boat and spent many weekends enjoying salmon fishing, cruising, and watching fireworks on Lake Michigan. Bob will be remembered fondly for his love of life, family, and adventure.
Bob is survived by his wife, Barbara; his son Timothy Jakus (Beth); his daughter Jody (Joel) Dake; his granddaughter Lilly; his sister Joan (Joel) Johannes; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his brothers Michael and Leonard, as well as his parents.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026, from 9:30 AM until the 11:00 AM funeral Mass at Corpus Christi Parish-St. Mary Church, located at 225 S. Hartwell Ave., Waukesha, WI 53186. A reception will follow the Mass, with private burial at St. Joseph Cemetery.
