Robert "Bob" Crown, age 97 of Waukesha, passed away on September 2, 2025. He was born in Waterloo, Iowa on August 27, 1928. He entered the Navy upon high school graduation and served 2 years post World War II. He went to University of Northern Iowa on the GI bill and got his degree in math and physics for teaching. He met Mary in spring of 1949 while they both were in college. Upon graduation they both were teachers and were married May 31, 1952. Bob went back to school at Iowa State for his engineering degree and was a mechanical engineer until his retirement in 1988. He flew airplanes for many years and was a corporate pilot after retirement.
He and Mary had many fun trips in his Cessna. He enjoyed leather tooling, making leather goods for family and friends. Favorite times included fishing trips with kids, grandkids and friends, camping with family and friends as well as many trips after retirement with Mary and friends. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church since 1969 and served in many leadership positions over the years. In 2017 Bob and Mary moved into Avalon Square and have many close friends there.
Bob leaves behind his wife, Mary, of 73 years, three children Steve (Sharon), Bill (Karen) and Dorilee (John Dillworth), 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will take place at the First United Methodist Church,121 Wisconsin Ave Waukesha on September 20,2025 with visitation from 9:30 AM until the memorial service at 11:00 AM. A luncheon will follow. Interment at Prairie Home Cemetery.
Memorial gifts may be sent to the First United Methodist Church or to Avalon Square in memory of Bob.
