Richard C. Nebel

Richard C. Nebel of Waukesha passed away on July 23, 2026, at AngelsGrace Hospice in Oconomowoc at the age of 75. He was born in Oshkosh, WI on June 4, 1951 the son of Paul J. and Virginia (nee Muttart) Nebel Sr.

Richard's life was marked with a career as an actor and scenic designer that reflected his lifelong passion for the preforming arts. He was known for his dedication, talent, and endless accents. His creative vision brought many stages and stories to life. Richard was also known for his artistic talent as an illustrator, specifically a prolific historic architectural illustrator and children’s book author.

Richard cherished family time spent at their cabin "Melbinsö" in Elcho, Wisconsin which he considered to be heaven on earth; he spent many an afternoon sailing the lake. Richard was an extraordinary and unique individual who had great wit and wisdom. He will be remembered as a man of joy, curiosity and inspiration.

Richard is survived by his wife Robbi Heighway; his son Tom (Courtney Johnston) Nebel; his sister Suzanne Werner; his precious dog, Rags; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Nick, Victoria, Shon, and Bill, as well as his parents.

The family wishes to extend their deep gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff of Waukesha Memorial ICU and cardiac units for all their care provided to Richard, and the nurses and staff at AngelsGrace for their compassion in Richard's final days.

A celebration of Richard's life will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at St. Matthias Episcopal Church, located at 111 E Main St, Waukesha, WI 53186, followed by a memorial service beginning at 2:00 p.m.
