March 22, 1960 — August 8, 2025

Waukesha

Richard R. Gazinski “Rich” of Waukesha passed away peacefully on August 8, 2025 at age 65. He was born on March 22, 1960 to Robert and Janet (McIntyre) Gazinski. Richard grew up in West Allis, WI and was a 1978 graduate of Nathan Hale.

Richard is survived by his son Colin (Megan) Gazinski, his daughter Emma Gazinski, and his grandsons Trey, Quincy and Louey who referred to him as Grandpa “G”.

Richard was a loving brother to Jayne (the late Jim) Rogowski, Jean (Doug) Baur Wetmore, Leslie (Richard) Smith and the late Michele St. Angelo. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews who were dear to him. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Richard is also survived by his long-time girlfriend, Janet Hayek, and was given the name, “Papa Richie” by her granddaughter, Lacey. Richard was a special man to Janet’s children- Jennifer, Tim, Kaiti, Stephanie and to her five grandchildren

Richard began working as a machinist in high school then changed paths to graphics printing/digital software operator for 19 years.

Richard had a passion for music in his younger years and played the bass guitar in a band and also sang. He enjoyed bowling, camping, fishing, deck gardening and hunting for morel mushrooms and asparagus. He was a very good cook, and a very imaginative story teller-especially when camping! Richard was hard to beat at trivia and was given the nickname “ready reference” for that reason! He also enjoyed using his witty sense of humor when he had the opportunity!

In the past five years, Richard spent the majority of his time volunteering at The Alano Club in downtown Waukesha where he performed many duties including maintenance. He was a friendly and welcoming face to all who entered for support.

Richard was a kind and loving man who was so proud to be a dad and grandpa.

Whether you called him Richard, Rich, Dad, Daddy-O (by Emma), Grandpa “G” or Papa Richie, you held a special place in his heart. He will be greatly missed.

A private Celebration of Life will be held in Richard’s memory.
