Patricia "Patti" Lucille Akers, 73, entered into eternal rest on October 23, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on September 12, 1952, in Mineola, NY, Patti was the fourth child of August and Marion Krug.
In 1984, she moved from Long Island to Clifton Park, NY, with her first husband, Richard Templeton, and their two sons, Michael and Thomas Templeton. Shortly after, she began working in the Shenendehowa Central School District’s FOCUS program at Gowana Junior High School. During her 17 years in this role, she touched countless young lives—helping at-risk teens not only care about their education but discover their own self-worth.
In 2004, Patti married the love of her life, Richard (Rick) Akers, and joined his family, which included his three children: Robert Akers (Beth), Rachel Green (Ryan), and Wesley Akers (Jodi). From Naperville, IL, to Clearwater, FL, to Waukesha, WI, Patti and Rick spent more than two decades driving each other crazy in the way only true soulmates can.
Patti was larger than life in nearly every respect, always acting from a place of deep care and concern. Her gift—her ministry—was caring for others, most often by feeding them. Whether it was Sunday sauce or Thanksgiving dinner, she welcomed everyone to the table.
She loved her family fiercely and had little patience for nonsense. Her sense of humor was delightfully irreverent, and she could “bust horns” better than most. She adored her six grandchildren: Afton, Elias, Madison, Charlotte, Everly, and Cole.
Patti was predeceased by her father, August (1987); her sister-in-law, Gail (2016); her brother, Gerard (2017); and her mother, Marion (2020). She is survived by her devoted husband, Richard Akers; her loving siblings, William Krug, Richard Krug (Diane), and Kathleen Natale (John); her beloved children and stepchildren; her cherished grandchildren; and many friends.
A devout follower of Christ, Patti’s politics reflected His example of love, mercy, acceptance, generosity, and forgiveness. Her presence will be deeply missed.
Two events will honor Patti’s life:
A funeral mass will be held at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church, 569 Clifton Park Center Rd., Clifton Park, NY 12065, at 11 AM on December 6, 2025.
