It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Michelle (Miki) Miner Sobye after her hard-fought battle with cancer. She passed away August 23, 2025 at her Waterford home.
Miki was born and raised in Waukesha where she attended St. Mary's Grade School and graduated from Catholic Memorial High in 1965. At the time of her passing, she was working on her 60th Class Reunion committee. She loved singing (and harmonizing) and dancing. When she was in 8th grade she and her friend Kitty won a dance contest at Hatfield School doing the "Pony"! She had a sarcastic wit, a playful sense of humor that could light up a room, and a memory like a steel trap! Those lucky enough to know her will remember her strength, determination, generosity and how she always made people feel welcome.
Miki loved her family and would always being showing pictures of her grandkids and relaying their latest funny sayings and antics. She loved Christmas and decorating for it. We sure are going to miss her "cranz", even though she would always say it wasn't as good as last year's!
Miki worked as a realtor for Century 21 Reich & Roberts for many years and at the same time bought and sold antiques. Nothing could get her more excited than finding a cover to a sugar bowl that had been down in the basement for 2 years! Her favorite place to go was the Elkhorn Flea Market and she would talk about antiques until your eyes glazed over!
Miki was preceded in death by her parents Harley and Gerry (nee Majeskie) Miner, many relatives and friends and her beloved dog Lucy. She is survived by her husband, Chris Sobye; her two children, Todd (Michelle) Christianson and Donna (Brent) Christianson-Landowski; her sister Marni (Mike) Czarapata and brother Jim (Tricia) Miner; and her treasured 5 grandchildren: Adeline Rivero, Kinley Landowski, and Eli, Noah and Evelyn Christianson.
We will celebrate Miki's Life on November 15, 2025 at the Cotton Exchange in Waterford from 12 - 4. Please bring stories of Miki to share!
