Mathias "Matt" D. Maternowski

Mathias Maternowski was born May 3rd, 1971 at Waukesha Memorial Hospital. He passed away on Sunday, October 12, 2025. Affectionately known as "Uncle Buck", Matt loved his family above all things. Matt never missed an opportunity to spend time with family, and he always made himself available to help them out in any way they asked. Having a clever, witty sense of humor, Matt often brightened people's days with jokes: he listened to WGN radio speed jokes every week and always shared his favorites through the family chat! Matt enjoyed many programs on public radio and was an avid reader--he was a weekly regular at the local library. Matt's favorite books were detective novels, and the librarian would even hold new novels for him. He was also a huge Brewers fan and followed them on radio and TV. However, Matt's favorite hobby was fishing; he excelled at it, and some of his family's most cherished memories are the quality times spent fishing with him. Finally, Matt loved cats and always had one as his daily companion. Matt's big heart and generous spirit will be greatly missed by his family and all those who knew him.

He will be sadly missed by his siblings Danette (Jeffrey) Karls, Phillip “Phil” (Lynn) Maternowski, Paul Maternowski and Andrea “Andie” (Jeff) Crotteau. He is further survived by his sister-in-law Kim, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents as well as his brother Gregory.
