LeVonne L. Huntley, 85, of Waukesha, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family, on Monday, February 16, 2026.
She was born on August 5, 1940, in Coloma, Wisconsin, to Arthur and Delores (née Weber) Sayre. She graduated from Adams-Friendship High School and went on to begin stewardess (flight attendant) training. Though she did not complete the training, she went on to build a strong and respected career as an overhead crane operator for RTE, now known as Cooper Power Systems. LeVonne was known for her striking height, which remained a defining and admired trait even in her later years.
On October 20, 1962, she married Harland Huntley in Parker, Wisconsin. Harland preceded her in death on November 23, 2019.
LeVonne was an exceptionally talented artist and creative spirit throughout her life. She and Harland spent countless hours making crafts together, turning simple materials into meaningful keepsakes that filled their home with warmth and personality. She will be especially remembered for her beautifully hand-painted Christmas tree ornaments, which became treasured gifts and family heirlooms. Her artistic talent showed in everything she created, and her attention to detail and love for crafting were admired by all who knew her.
She loved tending to her plants, especially flowers, and found joy in watching the birds outside her window. Many also knew her for her love of going out to eat and enjoying good food and good company. She would spend many long hours deep in conversation with her cousin Dennis, who held a special place in her heart. As well as spending summers up north with her best friend Barb in Mercer, WI.
Her greatest joy was her family. She cherished time spent with her grandchildren and loved being surrounded by those she held dear. She also treasured quiet moments with her beloved dog, Nya.
She was known by many names—wife, mom, ma, auntie, Janie, Grandma, City Grandma, and friend—and was deeply loved by all who knew her.
She is survived by her children Denise (Robert) Prowls of New Berlin and David (Denise) Huntley of Yuba; her "adopted" son Randy (Debbie) Hinkes of Mukwonago; her grandchildren Morgan (Sean) Huntley, Cameron Huntley, Mitch Huntley, and Kirk Huntley; her brothers Jerry (Helen) Sayre of Canaan, Indiana, and Daniel (Nancy) Sayre of Green Valley, Arizona; her brother-in-law Eugene Shier of Madison; many cousins, nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and friends.
In addition to her husband Harland, she was preceded in death by her sister Bonnie Shier and her brother and sister-in-law Jim (Betty) Sayre.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Fuzzy’s South Side, 1726 S West Ave, Waukesha, WI 53189.
