Kathleen Rae Haney

August 21, 1947 — February 14, 2024

Union Grove

Born August 21, 1947, found peace when Jesus brought her home to reunite with her husband on February 14, 2024, at the age of 76. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jim Haney, her parents Frederick and Cyrene (nee Terch) Lodes, her brother Rick Lodes, and her very special sister, Jeryce Welch.

Kathy married her high school sweetheart, Jim, in 1969 at Mary Queen of Heaven Church in West Allis. After her husband graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison Pharmacy School in 1972, they moved to Whitewater where Kathy was involved in Jaycettes and other women’s social service groups. It was there that Kathy met her best friends of over 50 years, Bill and Marilyn Fuerstenberg. Jim and Kathy later made their home in Waukesha where they raised their two children, Jay and Jill.

Kathy worked as a Pharmacy Technician at Walgreens for many years, and later as an Administrative Assistant at Linden Grove Care Facility. It suited her servant heart. Kathy’s hands were rarely still. She was a gifted seamstress since her youth, making clothing, quilts, and home furnishings. She was an exemplary wife, mother, and grandmother. She embodied the best of qualities; unconditional love, strength of spirit, faith and an unending generosity that could be seen when caring for her most precious family.

Kathy is survived by her admiring children, son James Haney and daughter Jill (Kevin) Novak. She will forever be loved and missed by her cherished grandchildren, Anna, Evan, Caroline, Ella, Allysen, Erik, Alisyn, Aiden, Addison, and Ashton. Her silly sense of humor and stories will always be remembered. She will also be lovingly remembered by her special nieces and nephews; Karen Jones, Mike Welch, Jim Welch, Miki Cairo, Daniele Shallow, and Chad Shallow; along with other family and friends.

Her work here on Earth is done.
“She was an Angel in the shape of my mom.”
