Joshua “Josh” J. Hammes of Waukesha passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at Waukesha Memorial Hospital after bravely battling colon cancer. He was born in Havre de Grace, Maryland on October 26, 1977, to Mark and Beth Hammes. On November 10, 2006, he exchanged vows with his beloved wife, Kristin (Fohey), whom he spoiled and adored endlessly. Throughout his life, Josh found joy in target shooting, cars, exploration, and travel—especially treasuring his time with his parents in Florida. He had a passion for movies, was a devoted cat dad, and delighted in the company of his nieces and nephews. Known for his generous spirit, Josh always put the needs of others above his own. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, son, brother, uncle and friend.
He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Kristin; his parents Mark and Beth Hammes; his brother Brian Hammes; sister Teresa (Ross) Christensen; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bob and Toni Fohey; sister-in-law Laura (Aaron) Vitale and nieces and nephews, Amber (Trey) Pickart, Cailyn and Addison Christensen, Collin Hammes and Landen and Colton Vitale. He is further survived by several aunts, uncles, numerous cousins, other relatives and friends.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the ICU and Oncology doctors, nurses and staff at Waukesha Memorial Hospital for their kindness and care.
