John R. Chiapusio, of Waukesha, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2026, at the age of 79, with his beloved wife Sandra by his side. Born in Iron Mountain, Michigan, on May 2, 1947, he was the son of Dominic and Delores (Sovey) Chiapusio. John honorably served in the United States Navy for eight and a half years and was grateful for his participation in a Stars and Stripes Honor Flight.
Following his military service, John enjoyed a fulfilling career with GE, retiring as a shipping coordinator. On July 26, 1986, he married Sandra (Wilks), and they shared a love for travel and cruising. John was known for his sociable nature, often assisting friends with electronic projects, and indulged in hobbies such as playing sheepshead, reading, and cheering for the Brewers. A passionate stamp collector, he was an active member of the American Philatelic Society. John also had a keen interest in space, science fiction, and fossils.
John is survived by his devoted wife of nearly 40 years, Sandra; his children, Christopher (Lisa) Slusar, John (Wynne) Slusar, Christopher (Cynthia) Chiapusio, and Scott (Natalie) Chiapusio; grandchildren Mitchell Slusar, Madeline Slusar, Kristopher Helto, Natalie Kostman, Nicholas Kostman, Victoria Chiapusio, and John Slusar; and a great-granddaughter, Ariella. He also leaves behind his sister, Diane Chiapusio-Castelaz, along with an aunt, uncle, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Special thanks to Legacy Hospice for their dedication to John’s comfort and care.
