Joanne Mary Kind

Joanne Mary Kind (née Campbell), “Mom,” “Grandma,” and “Gigi,” of Waukesha died on Thursday, February 5, 2025 at the age of 84. She was born on November 26th, 1941 the daughter of Paul and Mitzi Campbell. She was a 1959 graduate of Catholic Memorial High School. On December 27, 1962 she married David Kind in Waukegan, IL, and they shared over 60 years together building their family and life in Waukesha. Joanne raised four children, worked as a Secretary, EMT and homemaker. She stayed busy caring for all of them while doing needlepoint, puzzles and playing cribbage.

Joanne cherished time with her extended family, hosting Christmas and Easter gatherings for her 5 grandchildren for many years. Her summers were spent with David at their cabin on Lake Mildred near Rhinelander, WI, where she taught all the grandkids how to canoe, make loon calls, and identify birds. She was often the last one around the campfire, always continuing the late night conversation and merriment.

She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her children, Cindy (Tom) Wargolet of Eden Prairie, MN, Pam (Paul) Benson of Stillwater, MN, her grandchildren, Katie (Chad) Heemstra of Blaine, MN, Kyle (Courtney Boucher) Wargolet of Bloomington, MN, Samantha (Mason Pajolek) Wargolet of Minneapolis, MN, Gabby Gramz of Nashotah, and Camden Benson of Stillwater, MN, and great-granddaughters Annabel Heemstra, Elaina Heemstra, and Nora Pajolek. She is further survived by her sisters Christine Moon, Patricia Campbell Dick and In-laws, Sandy (Jim) Grundman, Susie McCormack, and Bob (Mary) Kind along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Kind, sons Doug Kind and Mark Kind, and her parents.

In honor of Grandma Joanne, the family invites you to celebrate her life on February 22nd at the Club 400 Bar and Grill, 322 Williams St, Waukesha, WI 53186 from 2 to 5 PM for “One Last Brandy,” her favorite drink. Come grab the drink of your choice and share stories with us. A few toasts in her honor will begin at 2:30 PM.
