James A. Muth passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at the age of 94. He was born in Milwaukee on May 20, 1930 to Alfred and Eileen (Nee: Marriott) Muth. He proudly served in the U.S. Airforce during the Korean War, 5th Communications Group. James was the Assistant Fire Chief for the City of Waukesha, where he was employed for 29 years. He had a passion for hunting and fishing. He loved being outdoors and on the water. He passed down his love for the outdoors to his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jim was very handy. He could fix and build anything and was very proud of the family home that he built. On September 8, 1951 he married Shirley Schultz and she preceded him in death.
He will be sadly missed by his children: Deborah (Thomas) Greenwaldt, Michael (Barbara) Muth and Steve (Mark Warner) Muth. He will also be missed by his 3 grandchildren: Timothy (Stacey) Greenwaldt, Jeffery (Jessica) Muth and Eric (Katie) Muth and 7 great-grandchildren: Penelope Greenwaldt, Noah, Cora & Logan Muth and Olivia & Benjamin Muth. He is further survived by his sisters Joanne Whitehurse and Ellin Monogue, nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to his wife, Shirley Muth, he was preceded in death by his sister Eileen Muth and brothers John, and Robert Muth.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 2400 W. State Hwy 59, Waukesha with visitation from 9:00 AM until the memorial Mass at 11:00 AM. Interment will be the next day at Prairie Home Cemetery. Memorials made to the family will go toward a bench and St. John Neumann and the planting of a city tree.
