Helen J. Pugh, of Waukesha, died Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at the Congregational Home in Brookfield at the age of 97. She was born in Milwaukee on February 11, 1928, the daughter of Gavin and Carolyn (nee Sommers) McKerrow. On September 9, 1950 she married John R. Pugh at First Presbyterian Church where they were longtime members. She received her bachelor degree in Agricultural Journalism from UW-Madison, where she was a member of Tri Delta Sorority. She was active in the Waukesha community, serving two terms as President of the Waukesha Service Club. She served on numerous boards including Waukesha Memorial Hospital, Waukesha United Way, AAA Travel Advisory and the Waukesha YWCA where she was also a “Peanut Lady”. Helen was a longtime member of Merrill Hills Country Club.
She will be sadly missed by her children Penny Goodyear of Waukesha, Patty (Ron) Dallmann of Waukesha, Jack (Cindy) Pugh of Chanhassen, MN and Jim “Beans” (Jen) Pugh of Waukesha. Dear grandmother of Becky (Bill) Pease, Andy (Carrie) Goodyear, Jennie (Dr. Nick) Draper, Laura (Kevin) Ulrich, John (Gina) Pugh, Megan (Andrew) Whitsell, Harper Pugh, Holly (Patrick) Meyer and Scott (Dana) Dallmann. Loving great-grandmother of Colton Pease, Gavin, Evelyn and Linley Goodyear, Fletcher, Lily and Mackenzie Draper, Wesley and Hailey Ulrich, Archer and Violet Whitsell, JJ and Evan Pugh, Emily and Avery Meyer and Madison, Abby and Dylan Dallmann. She is further survived by her sister Florence Glass of Lincoln, MA, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband John on July 29, 2015, sister Isabel Brown and brothers George and William McKerrow.
Private family services will be held. Memorials in Helen’s name are appreciated to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
