Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, and Friend
Gary J. Kosmatka was a man of extraordinary talent, unwavering determination, and a generous heart. A devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather and great-grandfather, loyal friend, and mentor to many, Gary leaves behind a lifetime of treasured memories and a legacy of love, kindness, and craftsmanship.
Born to Joseph and Lucille “Betty” Kosmatka, Gary spent his younger years in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, where his curiosity and natural mechanical abilities began to develop. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Madison and pursued a career as a Mechanical Engineer, putting his exceptional problem-solving skills and ingenuity to work.
A true craftsman at heart, Gary was a builder, mechanic, and inventor who could seemingly create or repair anything. Whether working on an old car, solving a mechanical challenge, or building a house from the ground up, he approached every project with precision, creativity, and determination. For 40 years, he called the beautiful Holy Hill area home, where the house he built stands as a testament to his hard work and craftsmanship.
Gary also appreciated life’s simple pleasures, especially the freedom and adventure he found on the water. He loved boating, spending countless memorable days enjoying the lakes with family and friends. Lake Beulah held a special place in his heart, as it was where he spent time with his parents and grandparents while growing up. Whether cruising the waters of Lake St. Germain on a pontoon or simply taking in the peaceful beauty of the shoreline, Gary was happiest when he was out on the water. He loved a cold beer and a good cigar on the water and the opportunity to share those special moments with the people he cared about. His passion for boating and pontoon outings created cherished memories that will remain with his family for years to come. He also had a lifelong passion for old cars and mechanics, but equally treasured time spent with family and friends, sharing stories, laughter, and good company.
To his family, Gary was a source of strength, wisdom, and guidance. The lessons he taught, the memories he created, and the love he shared will remain in their hearts for generations to come.
Though he is no longer here to offer his advice, share a story, or lend his talented hands, Gary’s legacy lives on not only in everything he built, but in everyone he helped along the way.
Gary will be forever loved, deeply missed, and lovingly remembered by his family, his many friends, and all whose lives were made better simply by knowing him.
Above all, Gary’s greatest pride was his family. He was a beloved husband to the late Karin Kosmatka; a loving father to Anna, Kris, Debbie, Donna, and Michelle; and a cherished grandfather to Colin, Alena, Renee, Danny, Jason, Devin, Drake, and Damen. He was blessed with six great-grandchildren, extending his legacy of love across generations. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Mary.
Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of Gary on Friday, November 20, 2026 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Avenue, Waukesha, WI 53186.
