Duane "Zeke" Warren

83, of Pewaukee, died at his home on June 25, 2009.  He was born on September 9, 1925 in Richland Center to Frank and Almeda (nee Ferguson) Warren.  In 1929 he moved with his family, where they owned farms in North Prairie and Genesee.  He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, where he was involved in 3 major battles and was wounded in Okinawa, Japan which resulted in him receiving the Purple Heart.  From 1951 until 1960 he was an agent for Mobil Oil.  From 1960 until 1980 he co-owned Warren Oil Company with his brother Darrell and then began his own business, Dairyland Fuels, until his retirement in 1992.  He is one of the founders of La Casa de Esperanza in Waukesha.  On April 19, 2000 he married Kathleen “Kate” Martin in Las Vegas, NV.  He has been a longtime member and former president of the Rotary Club in Waukesha, where he was known as the “pancake man”.  He was a longtime, steadfast member and former president of Merrill Hills Country Club.  He was an active member of Oil Jobbers of Wisconsin and served on the Board of Directors and was trustee of the Federated Insurance Committee.  Duane was a former member of Genesee Congregational Church and First United Methodist Church in Waukesha.  He was an avid golfer and enjoyed golfing around the world, even golfing at St. Andrews Golf Course in Scotland, among others.  He will be sadly missed by his wife Kathleen “Kate” Martin of Pewaukee, along with his children:  Patricia (Roger) Putnam of Mukwonago, Julie (Phil) Koch of Oregon, Jenni (Larry) Zielke of Waukesha and Randall (Susan) Warren of Tomahawk; stepchildren:  Robert (Lisa) La Paz of Beacon, NY, William (Teri) La Paz of Pewaukee and Rebecca (Douglas) McDowell of Sturgeon Bay.  Dear grandfather of:  Mandy Putnam of Eagle, Jessie Putnam of Muskego, Clay (Ashley) Putnam of Eagle, Emily Putnam of Mukwonago, Sarah and Meg Koch both of Mesa, AZ, Joseph Koch of Corvallis, OR, Carrie and Taylor Warren both of Tomahawk, Megan Horace of Sturgeon Bay and Olivia La Paz of Beacon, NY.  He is further survived by a great-grandchild, Will Moran of Eagle, brother Dwight (Jeanne) Warren of Appleton, brother-in-law (who was more like a brother to him) Delmer Trevorrow of Sun Prairie, former wife Carol Warren of Dousman, nieces, nephews, and a very large extended family and friends.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 9 brothers and sisters.  Visitation will be held on Monday, June 29, 2009 at Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110 S.
