Donald Vincent Medler, of Waukesha, passed away on Monday, May 18, 2026 at the age of 92. He was born on October 18, 1933 in Coral, MI, to Vincent and Mary (nee Elcy) Medler. As one of five siblings, he grew up in a closely knit family that lived in Michigan and Chicago, Illinois. He met and married the love of his life, Karen (nee Tinnes) on July 18, 1964 and made Waukesha home. Together they built a loving and caring family including their twin children John Medler and Jane (Mark) Busbia and grandchildren Devon (Jack) Ferguson and Connor Busbia, with a great grandchild on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents as well as his siblings Joan McCombs, Janet Morrison, Arlene Bayless, and Tom Medler.
Don lived his life grounded in service to others, hard work, and love for his family. During the Korean War, he proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Air Force’s 6th Bomb Wing of the Strategic Air Command in Greenland, Guam, Okinawa and several stateside bases. He was a longtime member of D.J. Martin American Legion Post 8 in Waukesha, serving on the Executive Committee and Honor Guard and participated in over 525 military services during that time. He was always reading, could discuss any topic, loved to visit his beloved sisters and their families in MI, enjoyed woodworking, always had a camera on hand to snap that perfect picture, was technologically adept, and could fix just about anything. He loved life and was loved by all who knew him.
