David Charles Mickler lost his battle with Parkinson’s Disease on January 31, 2026. Born on January 20, 1946, in Waukesha, Wisconsin, David led a life defined by hard work, devotion to family, and an appreciation for life’s simple pleasures.

A member of the Waukesha South Class of 1964, David attended the University of Milwaukee for a year before beginning a varied and industrious career.

He married the love of his life, Julie Freiberg, in June of 1964.

Dave worked as a groundskeeper at Prairie Home Cemetery and later as a carpenter with Freiberg Bros Construction. Dave’s entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish Mickler and Sons Construction and later, Mickler and Sons LLC, which he successfully operated for over 40 years.

David’s strong work ethic was matched by his generous nature and love of good company. He enjoyed fishing, scenic drives, and Saturday card games. He took pride in supporting his children’s and grandchildren’s activities. He valued time spent with family and friends. Those who knew him well knew that if David considered you a friend, he would give you the shirt off his back.

Dave is survived by his daughter Michelle Sheldon (Daniel); his sons Jeffrey Mickler (Jennifer) and Jared Mickler(Dawn). He is further survived by his grandchildren Matthew Sheldon(Courtney), Katie Sheldon (Jonathon Breede), and Hannah Mickler. David also has two great grandchildren Atticus and Kalaneigh.

David was preceded in death by his beloved wife Julie (Freiberg) Mickler and infant son Mark Mickler.

May David’s memory bring comfort who those who knew him and serve as a lasting reminder of a life lived with heart, humor, and unwavering dedication.
