David Washington Baylor, Jr. (Buddy, Prof. Baylor, Mr. Baylor), 57, died surrounded by family on September 5, 2025.
David was a US Army veteran, a member of the 101st Airborne Division, and served in Desert Storm. He was a Past Master of Waukesha Masonic Lodge No. 37.
He dedicated his latter years to teaching, with an impact made at Catholic Memorial High School, Institute of Technology and Academics, Pathways High School, Hope Christian High School, Milwaukee Academy of Science, and St. Augustine Preparatory Academy, where he dedicated his life to his students and worked until he passed. He is admired for his love for teaching and the lasting impact he has made on every one of his students.
David loved the outdoors and hiking, including completing a month-long hike with his son Austin on El Camino de Santiago (The Way of St. James) across Spain. When he wasn’t teaching, he was often found enjoying state parks on walks or sitting outside with family.
David was loved by many and is survived by his wife, Leslie Baylor, née Schulte; son, Austin “Buddy” Baylor (wife Brianna); daughter, Lauren “Baby Girl” Baylor; and son, Matthew “Bud Bud” Baylor. He also leaves behind sister, Carolyn McIntire (partner James); stepsisters: Donna and Amanda; stepbrothers: David Lee and Johnny; nephew, Chris McIntire (wife Whitney and son Ian); niece, Lindsey Pupo (husband Randy, son Nolan, and daughter Claire); niece, Olivia Carini (fiance Matt Dahle); nephew, Mario Carini; loved God daughter and niece, AnnaMarie Carini; nephew, Anthony Carini; parents-in-law: Barbara and Gregory Schulte; Brother in Arms, Russell Garcia (wife Marlena); and dear friend Abby Andrietsch (husband Omar and daughters Paige and Emma). Loved by many, David leaves behind countless family, friends, and students as well.
He is preceded in death by his father, David W. Baylor Sr.; mother, Judy Firlotte; half sister, Rhonda; and step sisters: Sandy, Faye, and Rosemary.
David received excellent care in his final years by his team at Froedtert Hospital, including medical oncologists Dr. Wong and Mitch PA-C , radiation oncologist Dr. Awan, primary care provider Dr. Kies, and countless other doctors, nurses, technicians, and all providers during his time with Froedtert.
A memorial service will be held at Spring Creek Church in Pewaukee on Saturday, September 27, where we will honor David and his legacy. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM with a service at 11:00 AM with Pastor Mike. A Celebration of Life will follow and be held at Bullwinkles at the Galleria in Brookfield from 1:00 to 4:00 PM. Guests are welcome to come and go at any time during the celebration.
