Christian Meinhardt, age 95 died on Wednesday, August 6, 2025. He was born in Piliscasaba, Hungary on April 17,1930 to Christian and Maria (nee: Brandl) Meinhardt. Chris came to this country at age 20 with nothing - and eventually built a successful carpenter contractor business. In his early years he was an avid chess player , amateur photographer with his own dark room , an accomplished accordion player and lover of music, and gardener. In his middle years he learned to fly his own plane (a lifelong dream) and learned to play golf which he especially enjoyed doing with his son- in- law. He was always there for his family and will be greatly missed. Chris proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War.
He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 72 years, Elisabeth Meinhardt, and their two children, Heidimarie (Jeffrey) Steffes, James Meinhardt; 4 grandchildren, Joseph (Jessica) Steffes, Robert (Snehal) Steffes, Allison Meinhardt, Dylan (Andrea) Meinhardt and 5 great-grandchildren Mira Steffes, Christian Steffes, Adrian Steffes, Calvin Meinhardt and Roman Meinhardt. He is further survived by his brothers and sisters, the late William Meinhardt, Erika Goetz, Otto Meinhardt, Rosemarie Knorr, Joseph Meinhardt and Karl Meinhardt. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
To honor Christian’s wishes no service will be held. Burial will be at Prairie Home Cemetery following cremation.
