Barbara M. Zimmerman

Barbara M Zimmerman (nee Gross) found peace on August 11, 2026.

Barbara was a graduate of the Waukesha High School Class of 1955. She loved her many places of employment throughout the years and the people she worked with including Dr Homer H. DuMez, DDS, Avalon Manor, Ben Franklin Crafts, Office Furniture Options, and Waukesha Floral. Her 80th birthday party was held in 2018 at Waukesha Floral with Marty Loppnow presiding and over 80 friends and family members in attendance. It was truly a celebration of her life and love of her community, her friends and her former co-workers.

She was a lifelong member of Vernon Presbyterian Church and served as a church school teacher and superintendent, Elder and on many other committees serving the church and its leadership.

Barbara will be remembered for her beautiful perennial gardens surrounding both her Big Bend Road and Tenny Avenue homes in Waukesha. She served as the Registration Chairperson of the 1983 National Convention of the African Violet Society of America and for many years, had well over 1,000 African Violets in her home. She knew all their names and varieties and had great expertise in all things related to flowers and enjoyed sharing this beauty with others.

Barbara's life was a testament to her dedication to family, faith, and community. She will be dearly missed.

Barbara will be missed by her devoted husband of 66 years, Ronald H. Zimmerman and her loving daughters, Leigh Ann Kramer and Katie Zimmerman (Joe Schomisch). She was a proud and loved grandmother of Jessica Barrile and Michelle Bukowski (Brian) and Great Grandma GG to Michael John and Kyla Barrile and Elliana and Jacob Bukowski. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Rose (Furrer) Gross, brother John and sisters Margaret Bertram, Joan Gross and Sandra Gross.

The family will honor the life of Barbara privately.
