Amy Lyn Johnson (nee Harper) peacefully entered her eternal home in the early morning hours of August 25, 2025, after a three-year battle with lung and brain cancer. She was 55 years old. Throughout the entire journey, she lived each day with grit and determination, and brought joy and inspiration to those around her.
Amy was born on August 1, 1970, in Waukesha, WI; graduated from Waukesha North High School (1988); and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications from the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse (1992). She enjoyed a 30+ year career in various professional roles in media and publishing, including the last two decades with Lessiter Media (Brookfield).
She possessed a captivating blend of unique charm and playful quirkiness, with just the right touch of edge and sass. Simple things often brought great joy, most often shared with family and friends: visiting a favorite restaurant; reading novels; being thoroughly entertained by Hallmark movies; preparing home cooked meals for loved ones—complete with her dazzling, one-of-a-kind desserts; traveling to warm destinations; attending live music events; or lounging poolside with a drink and good conversation. She was blessed with her mother’s love and caring for animals, and would tend to stray and shelter dogs and cats in order to give them a better life. In the midst of challenges, she adopted her maternal grandmother’s positive spirit and her “this too shall pass” attitude by making the best of every day.
Her greatest loves in life were for her husband, Michael, and for her daughter Emily. She had a special and loving relationship with both of them and they were the center of her life. She also had a special connection to family and friends, especially her nieces, and cherished the times they could be together. She knew her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and trusted that even in death there is life in Christ.
She is survived by her husband, Michael Johnson of Waukesha; her daughter, Emily Blunt of Milwaukee; her brothers, Dale (Rhonda) Harper of Hartland, and John (Kris) Harper of Nashotah; her nieces, Peyton Harper, Caitlyn Harper, Carly Harper, and Alaina Harper; and her extended family, sons Clint Johnson and Luke Johnson. She is further survived by her cousins Jeff Buechler of Nashua, NH; Carrie Sowers of New Ulm, MN; and Anne (Terry) Johnson of Windham, NH, and their families, including their father, David Buechler, of Windham, NH.
She is survived by Michael’s family, mother Mary Ann Farley of Hartford; father Ed Farley (Patty) of Wisconsin Rapids; brothers Dan (Jackie) Johnson of Menomonee Falls, Jim (Amy) Johnson of Ocean Springs, MS, and Bob Farley of Wisconsin Rapids; and sisters Michelle (Jason) Vollert of Wisconsin Rapids, and Jennifer (Bob) Atwood of Wisconsin Rapids, and their respective families.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Nadine Buechler and Robert Harper; her maternal grandparents, LeRoy and Irma Schiller; and her aunt, Johanna Buechler.
