It brings us great sorrow to tell you that Allen has passed away on April 7, 2024 at the age of 82.  He was always early for every occasion, sadly for us, including arriving in Heaven.

He was born to Edgar and Ruth Garrett on September 21, 1941.  He spent his early days in Waukesha hanging out at Horeb pool, playing the drums in the marching band, and flirting with the neighbor girl across the street.

He graduated from Waukesha High School in 1960 and then enlisted into the US Navy.  He served as a radioman who transmitted the Morse Code on the U.S.S. English and the U.S.S. Bainbridge, which was the first nuclear powered guided missile cruiser. He was deployed three times to the Mediterranean Sea and sailed to many ports on a world cruise, where he caught the travel bug.

On August 7, 1965, Allen married Carol Clark, the aforementioned neighbor girl.  Together they raised their family in Waukesha, instilling a strong work ethic, integrity, and EXTREME promptness.  Some may say their epic road trips were a blueprint for the Griswalds. Allen was an exceptional provider.  He worked in the grocery business, including 26 years at Roundy's.  He was a proud member of the Teamsters Local 200. Allen was a talented bowler always striving for a 300. He will achieve that perfect game in Heaven. He will shuffle, shuffle, shuffle, slide down the golden streets. Allen loved musicals and liked to sing along, especially The Music Man #MarianTheLibrarian  He was a powerful singer and sang lead with the Ambassadors of Harmony.  Allen accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior and was baptized in the Jordan River. He was a member of Poplar Creek Church and enjoyed his early morning Bible study breakfasts.

Allen is survived by his wife of almost 59 years, Carol; his children, Jeffery, Kelli, Bruce, and Daniel; his daughters-in-law, Diane and Becky; his grandchildren Samantha (Steve), Jena (Morgan), Kylee, Jeremiah (Jada), Hollie (Corey), Jackson (Taylor), Ava, and Chloee; great grandchildren Shyanne, Kendyll, Elijah, Elloise, Charlotte, Leo, and Shiloh.  Allen is further survived by his sister, Bonnie, and her husband, Ron; his brother-in-law Clancy and his wife, Debbie; along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends including Ed, the crew at the Blackshirt breakfast,  and his sweet dog, Buddy.

Allen was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Mike, Jim, and Rick; his in-laws Gene and Lorraine Clark; his son-in-law, Gary; and his sister-in-law, Sharon.  He was also preceded in death by his canine companion, Katie.

Allen is singing and making melody to the Lord with all his heart.
