Virgina Kay Jones (nee Vernes) age 95, found eternal peace on March 23rd 2019. Kay was born on December 25th, 1923 in Glendive, Montana, the daughter of Mike and Laura Vernus. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bob Jones, who she missed dearly, her parents, her sister, Stella Graham, and brother, Bud Vernes.
Kay married Robert F Jones September 5, 1942 in Billings, Montana. She lived in Billings until retirement. She and Bob moved to Mesa, Arizona and finally relocated to Waukesha, Wisconsin to be close to family as their health declined. She will be sadly missed by her son, Bob (Debbie) Jones as well as her grandchildren, Nikki (Jeff) Jones, Kelly (Mike) Jones and her four great- grandchildren, Brodie, Jacob, Sam and Penelope.
Kay was an active member and volunteer of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Billings, Montana and St. Mark’s, Mesa, Arizona, where she could often be found baking cookies and sewing for fundraisers and gatherings. She loved to cook, bake, and host lunches or dinner parties for friends. She was a proud member of the Daughters of the King, Hilda Whitby Chapter for sixty-two years. Kay worked at Will James Junior High School in Billings, Montana for many years as a cook and was famous for her delicious cinnamon rolls. Kay enjoyed crafting, especially projects she and Bob could work on together. She leaves behind many, embroidered pillowcases, dishcloths and other crafts that are cherished by those who loved her.
Kay’s family would like to thank Avalon Square Arbor House and Season’s Hospice for the care they provided her. Memorials in her memory would be appreciated to either organization.
Burial will be held at a later date at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove, Wisconsin, where she will be reunited with her husband, Bob. Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral Home, Crematory and Preplanning Services is honored to serve the family.
