Mertice Hunt

November 1, 1927 — January 31, 2009

Of Waukesha, formerly of Madison, died on Saturday, January 31, 2009 at AngelsGrace Hospice in Oconomowoc at the age of 81.  She was born on November 1, 1927 in Mass, Michigan the daughter of the late Fred and Viola (nee Hocking) Cox.  She was a 1945 graduate of Columbus High School.  On August 22, 1946 she married Harold Hunt in Salt Lake City, Utah.  She started working in Madison for Ceramic Arts Studios as a ceramic painter and then for many years helped her husband run their business Hunt Masonry Company.  She was a longtime member of the East Side Business Club in Madison.  Mertice loved to dance and play cards.  She was active with her husband in a longstanding card club where they have remained lifetime friends with the other couples.  She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Madison. Mertice will be forever missed by her husband Harold of 63 years of Waukesha, formerly of Madison and their daughter: Susan (Stephen) Kerkhof of Waukesha, her granddaughters: Sarah (Robert) Schmadl of Cudahy and Stephanie Kerkhof of Englewood, FL, her brothers and sisters: Fred Jr. (Helen) Cox of Jefferson, Virginia (Merlyn) Dahl of Delavan, Beverly (the late Loren) Liebenthal of Fall River, Laura (Wilbur) Klahn of Cottage Grove, and Nancy (Ole) Karbo of Pardeeville.  She is further survived by her grand-dogs, Ginger and Winston along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law Jean (Charles) Bangham.  Private family services will be held.  For further information, please call Randle-Dable Funeral, Cremation and Preplanning Services at (262) 547-4035, or go to www.waukeshafunerals.com to leave an on-line tribute.
