Mary Louise Meeusen

July 27, 1930 — August 6, 2019

Mary L. Meeusen of Waukesha died August 6, 2019 just a week after her 89th birthday. She was born in Denver, Colorado on July 27, 1930 to Louis and Louise (nee Pfeifer) Larscheidt. For 38 years she shared her life with Walter L. Meeusen, raising six children and managing an amazingly active family at Holy Assumption Parish in West Allis.

When Walter passed in 1989, Mary moved to Germantown where she lived with her sister and then to Waukesha where she spent the last 17 years of her life as a member and eventual honorary matriarch of St. John Neumann Church. As part of the hospitality committee, Mary consistently touched the lives of fellow church members – the first to welcome families, to volunteer for church committees, and to befriend any new soul to the community. And if that soul also played sheepshead or cribbage… Mary’s wonderful sense of humor, love of life, sly wit, and her ability to share (uncensored) plain truths earned her a place in all our hearts.

In her early married years, she co-founded the Metro Flying Club and was fondly known as “Mary Metro.” An avid leader and organizer, she sat on home & school associations, volunteered in Scouting and always, always, loved keeping busy. Most of all, Mary loved and cherished her family and friends. She will be forever remembered for her consistent involvement in and support of their lives. She was the embodiment of a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister and friend.

She will be sadly missed by all her children, Ronald (Teri) Meeusen, David (Wendy) Meeusen, Richard (Maribeth) Meeusen, Christine Meeusen, Joseph Meeusen and Sharon (Steve) Kleppe. She was the proud and cherished grandmother of 17 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her sister Margaret Fessler, sisters-in-law, Doris Larscheidt, Marie Larscheidt and Dorothy Larscheidt, numerous nieces, nephews, many friends and her beloved church family. In addition to her husband, Walter and her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers John, Phillip, Anthony, Louis, George and Robert Larscheidt and sister Dolores Kimminau.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2019 from 9:00 AM until time of the 11:00 AM funeral Mass at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 2400 WI-59, Waukesha, WI 53189. Private burial will be at Forest Home Cemetery in Milwaukee. Memorials in Mary’s name are appreciated to St. John Neumann Catholic Church.
