Kenneth Zivney

June 12, 1921 — July 5, 2009

Kenneth E. “Ken” Zivney age 88, and his wife Mary H. Zivney, age 87, of the Town of Brookfield died on Sunday, July 5, 2009 as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.  Ken was born in Milwaukee on June 12, 1921 the son of Frank and Emma (Michaels) Zivney.  He served in the U.S. Army during WWII.  On August 3, 1946 he was united in marriage to his wife Mary at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Milwaukee.   Ken worked for 28 years at St. Regis Paper Company.  He also worked for and retired from the Waukesha Public Library.  In retirement he enjoyed volunteering with children’s library programs, The Caring Place and RSVP.  Ken was very involved in the Boy Scouts and was proud to be an Eagle Scout. Ken enjoyed volunteering at WCTC where he repaired toys for their TOT Program.  He loved to make and give away birdhouses as gifts to his family and friends, was an avid gardener who gave away many zucchinis and raspberries, loved dancing and polka music, was a member of the Town of Brookfield fire department.  Mary was born in Pontiac, Michigan on June 3, 1922 the daughter of Edwin and Gladys (nee Pettengill) Livingston.  Mary was a member of RSVP and enjoyed cross-stitching.  Along with her husband they were active members of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and former longtime members of St. Joseph Catholic Church and they were both members of the senior songsters. Ken and Mary will be sadly missed by their children: JoAnn (Howard) Husslein of Slinger, Bruce (Terri) Zivney of Waukesha, and Tom (Donna) Zivney of Eagle, grandchildren: Amy (Peter) Nelson of Madison, Dan (Shay) Husslein of Brookfield, Dani (Scott) Palm of Milwaukee, Paul (Bettina) Zivney of Milwaukee, Aaron (Rachel) Zivney of Mesa, AZ, Gary Zivney of Oconomowoc, and LeAnn Zivney of Eagle, great-grandchildren: Alex, Zach, and Adam Nelson, Jonah and Sofia Husslein, Elijah and Summer Palm and Lelu Zivney.  Mary is survived by her brothers: James (Elaine) Livingston of Milwaukee, Pat (Ira) Martin of Columbus, OH, and sister Ann Leenheer of Houston, TX.  They are both survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  Mary is preceded in death by her sister Peggy Lane and Ken is preceded in death by his sister Lucille Burch and brother Frank “Ziv” Zivney. Visitation and Funeral Mass for Mr. and Mrs. Zivney will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2009 from 4:00 until the 7:00PM Funeral Mass at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 225 S. Hartwell Ave., Waukesha, WI 53186. The Very Reverend James. T.
