James S. Goetz

May 1, 1941 — April 30, 2017

James S. Goetz, 75, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2017, at AngelsGrace Hospice in Oconomowoc. Jim was born in Waukesha, Wisconsin on May 1, 1941, to Sylvester and Lillian Goetz. Jim retired from Roundy’s Warehouse Foods after 30 years as a Teamster. Jim loved spending time with his grandchildren, listening to their stories, and following their adventures in life. He was known for his barbering skills and his love for shooting pool. He was truly a “Jim-of-all trades” whose talents included welding, masonry, carpentry, roofing, plumbing, automotive and electrical work. Jim loved the challenge of learning something new, and no project was ever too intimidating for him.
He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 50 years, Lynn Goetz (nee Nettesheim), children Lisa (Reid) Peterson of Washington, Michael (Khristine) Goetz of Georgia, Julie (Keith) Koehler of Ramstein Air Base, Germany, and Mark (Amy) Goetz of Hartland. Jim is also survived by his grandchildren, Zachary and Joshua Peterson, Michaela (Shaun) Harner, Sarah (Robert) Keller, Joseph Sterner, Noah Goetz, Justin and Kyle Koehler, McKenna, Kailyn, and Rachel Goetz, and his great grandchildren Riley Harner and Brayden Keller who is due in August. Jim is further survived by his brother Harold (Nancy) Goetz of Waupaca, sisters Marilyn (Thomas) Lynch of Waukesha and Patricia (Dale) Ellifson of Oconomowoc, sister-in-law Mary Goetz of Waukesha, and many other nieces, nephews, and relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Ruth Goetz, and his brother Rick Goetz.
The family would like to thank all the staff and volunteers at AngelsGrace Hospice in Oconomowoc for their loving care of our husband and father.
According to his wishes, Jim will be cremated and interred at St. James Catholic Cemetery in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin. A memorial service will follow at a later date.
Donations can be made in Jim’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Holy Hill Basilica of the National Shrine of Mary Help of Christians, 1525 Carmel Rd, Hubertus, WI 53033.
