Danford "Dan" L. Greenwood

Danford “Dan” L. Greenwood of Waukesha died on Thursday, November 8, 2018 at Waukesha Memorial Hospital at the age of 81. He was born in Fairbury, Nebraska on October 8, 1937 the son of Leslie and Lorraine (nee Eggenberger) Greenwood. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy and was a member of DJ Martin American Legion Post #8. On August 11, 1957 he married his beloved wife Ruth Van Waning in Mahaska, Kansas. Dan worked in purchasing for various companies over many years, retiring from Broan Manufacturing in 2000. He was a longtime member of the Fifth Avenue Methodist Church in West Bend and the First United Methodist Church in Waukesha.

He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 61 years, Ruth of Waukesha and their children, Mark (Janell) Greenwood of New York City, Jodi (Steven) Hammer of Waukesha and Philip Greenwood of Middleton. He was the proud grandfather of Lauren Greenwood of Chicago, Kristen Hammer of Waukesha and Susan (Neil) Greenwald of Vernon and great-grandfather of Olivia Joy and Emily Rose Greenwald. He is further survived by his brothers and sisters, Betty Jo (the late LeRoy) Skrdla of Wilbur, NE, Victor (the late Elaine) Greenwood of Warsaw, MO, Judy Snider of Linn, KS, Albert (Nedra) Greenwood of Clay Center, KS and Dorothy (David) Vandaveer of Friday Harbor, WA along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 12, 2018 from 9:30AM until time of the 11:00AM funeral service at First United Methodist Church, 121 Wisconsin Avenue, Waukesha, WI 53186. Reverend Dan Schwerin will preside. Burial with full military honors will be held on Monday, November 19th at 12:00 Noon at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove. Please meet at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to First United Methodist Church or to Camp American Legion, 8529 County Road D, Lake Tomahawk, Wisconsin 54539.
