Bryce Hunt Gigous

May 8, 1926 — October 31, 2019

Bryce Hunt Gigous, age 93, of Waukesha, WI passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday, October 31, 2019. He was born May 8, 1926 in Waukesha to Ina (Hunt) and Andrew McKinley Gigous. Bryce served in the United States Army as an Army Corporal in WWII from 1944 to 1946 and stationed in the Philippines. He was scouted to play professional baseball for the minor leagues. In 1950, he married Lois (Palm) Gigous. Bryce is the beloved father of Claudia Engler and Nancy Gigous (late Walter) Faulk.

In 1954 Bryce purchased A.M. Gigous & Sons, Inc. from his father, and continued to run a successful excavating business until retirement. He built the building on Ellis Street in Waukesha and conducted business later on as The Gigous Corporation. His brother Deane worked by his side in the business. Besides excavating, Bryce co-owned a crane service with his good friend, Jack Martin. He was also on the Town of Waukesha Fire Department and built his home on Center Road in Waukesha. Bryce greatly enjoyed camping with the family and fishing. He had a passion for hunting and highlights of his trips included deer, moose, elk, boar, pheasant and ducks. He also enjoyed traveling, taking long family road trips in the summertime. He had excellent carpentry skills and would always be in the shop working on a new project including many campers and even a houseboat. Westerns, Nascar, Ford vehicles, football, baseball and animals were just a few of his other favorites. Bryce will be remembered for his kindness and compassion towards all that knew him. In his very quiet and gentle ways he was always there to listen and lend a helping hand.

Bryce loved his family and friends very much. He is survived by his daughters Claudia Engler (Gigous) and Nancy (late Walter) Faulk; granddaughters, Tiffany Engler and Crystal Engler (Fiance Chad Knopps); Jeanne Spors and Denise (the late Randy) Randall; nephews Robin (Pam) Knoll, Terry (Denise) Knoll; nieces Tammy (Tim) Skelly, Jeanne Schaefer and Diane (late Scott) Schroeder; and other loving relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Ina (Hunt) and Andrew Gigous; his brothers Deane and Keith and son-in-law Walter Faulk.

A special thank you to the entire staff at Matthews of Pewaukee Memory Care facility for their loving and supportive care.
