Avis M. Schultz

Avis M. Schultz, of New Berlin, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at Elmbrook Hospital at the age of 91. She was born on April 14, 1928, in Cazenovia, WI, the daughter of Howard and Vera (nee Woodman) Jackson. A graduate of the Teachers College in Richland Center, WI, she taught school at Sextonville, WI. As a trumpet player in the Richland Center Band, she met a saxophone player, David Schultz, and they were married on August 8, 1950 in Richland Center. The couple lived in Gotham, WI for several years and started a family, moved to Waukesha, and eventually New Berlin. A longtime resident of Waukesha, Avis was active in many church activities of the Evangelical and Reformed United Church, including Sarah’s Circle, and was a member of the American Legion Post 8 Ladies Auxiliary. An avid traveler, she and David have been to such global destinations as England, Africa, Australia, and New Zealand. They also visited destinations throughout the United States, especially when attending American Legion conventions and national events for the African Violet Club. Avis enjoyed reading, crafts, painting, and puzzles.

She will be sadly missed by her husband David, of New Berlin, as well as her daughters Sharon Schultz of Howard, WI and Laurie (Ralph Hansen) Schultz of New Berlin. She is further survived by her sister Norma (the late Glen) Pyfferoen of Rockbridge, WI, sister-in-law Mary Jackson of Sauk City, many nieces, nephews and family friends. She was preceded in death by her daughter Anita Schultz and brother Donald Jackson.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 23 from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha. Entombment will follow at Prairie Home Cemetery.
