Thomas Lee Evans

Thomas L Evans, of Waukesha, died on Friday, June 17, 2016 at his home at the age of 71. He was born in Waukesha on November 7, 1944 the son of Walter and Marie (nee Blank) Evans. On June 10, 1967 he married Susan Anderson. He proudly served his country in the United States Army Reserve. Tom was a 1963 graduate of Waukesha South High School, and a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ where he was an active participant in the Men’s Club. Tom’s career began at RTE Corporation, he then moved to General Fiberglass Corp and then onto Epic Resins from where he retired. He was President of the Mukwonago High School Booster Club for many years and was recognized for his hard work by being inducted into the Mukwonago Hall of Fame for which he was very proud. He was instrumental in getting the first lighted high school soccer field in the state of Wisconsin this was truly a grass roots endeavor with many volunteers to help. He was a long time member and past President of the Lakeland Officials Association, he served as a baseball umpire and basketball referee for the youth in the Waukesha area, he was always on the field with the teams as they played their games. He was a coach at the Waukesha YMCA in his younger days and later on very active with Spring City Soccer as well as Mukwonago High School Soccer where he was their announcer for 25 yrs. He received many awards and trophies over the years and just loved being with others, either at play or work.
The family would like to extend appreciation and thanks to Dr. Gerald Berman for the great care he gave Tom. They would also wish to thank the caregivers who assisted the family during Tom's illness.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of 49 years, Susan of Waukesha and his children, Joelle (Paul) Novak of Gurnee, Illinois and Andrew Evans of Waterloo, Wisconsin, grandchildren Allison and Kaitlyn Novak of Gurnee, Illinois and Kirstin and Jake of Waterloo, Wisconsin. His sister Betty (Buck) Staub of Waukesha, and brother Roger J. Evans of Lily, Wisconsin also survive, along with nieces, and nephews: Nancy (Lee) Carlson, Dr. Rick (Cynthia Harrison) Staub, John (Lynne Vincent) Staub, Jeff Evans, Jill (Gary) Wilson, Susie (Tracy) Gac, David Evans, Stephanie Cotton, Dr. Kelly Jo (Scott Seiler) Wessberg, Aric (Amy Boatman) Anderson. other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Clyde and his two nephews Scott and Rick Evans.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 25th from 10:00 am until the funeral service that will begin at 12:00 pm all at First Congregational United Church of Christ 100 East Broadway Waukesha, WI 53186. Burial with full military honors will follow the service at Prairie Home Cemetery. Memorials are appreciated to the Mens Club at First Congregational Church or to the Scleroderma Foundation 300 Rosewood Dr., Ste 105, Danvers, MA 01923
