Stephen M. Molsbee Sr.

April 11, 1936 — June 5, 2015

Stephen M. Molsbee, Sr., of Waukesha, died Friday, June 5, 2015 at AngelsGrace Hospice at the age of 79. He was born on April 11, 1936, in Rogersville, TN, the son of Sam and Edyth (nee Falin) Molsbee. He was a 1953 graduate of Rogersville High School. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy as a Hospital Corpsman from 1954 until 1958. He was stationed in Okinawa, Japan and the Philippines. On March 26, 1955 he married Marcia (nee Papanek) Molsbee. They shared 59 wonderful years together. For 33 years he worked as an agent and adjuster for State Farm Insurance. He volunteered at the Blood Center of Wisconsin where he donated many units of blood and plasma. He was honored as their volunteer of the year in 2012, but skiing was his passion. His family and friends remember how quickly he could guide any conversation to one about skiing. In 2000 he was proud to become a member of the National Ski Patrol. Most recently he patrolled and taught at Ausblick Ski Hill. He was awarded ski patroller of the year many times, and was so dedicated that the National Ski Patrol Ausblick chapter now awards “The Molsbee Ironman Award” every year to one member who exhibits true dedication to patrolling.

He is survived by his children Diane (Mark Berg) Molsbee of Waukesha, Stephen (Lisa) Molsbee Jr. of Brookfield and Robert (Debra Zindler) Molsbee of Hubertus. Dear grandfather of Jessica (Bob) Bivens, Molly Berg, Matthew Berg, Hannah Molsbee, Mei Lin Molsbee and great-grandfather of Sawyer and Harper. He is further survived by his sister Phyllis Ann (Mark) Poppelman of Sturtevant, nephews Gerald (Bonnie) Papanek Jr., Duane (Dawn) Walley, Christopher (Theresa) Walley and Chad Poppelman, brother-in-law James Papanek of Winter, along with other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Marcia on March 25, 2014.

Honoring his wishes, private family services will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the Waukesha Public Library, 321 Wisconsin Avenue, Waukesha, WI 53186.
