Ross Langill

August 13, 1923 — January 29, 2008

Ross Alexander Langill, age 84, an attorney from Waukesha, died of natural causes at his Sarasota, Florida home on January 29, 2008. Mr. Langill was born August 13, 1923 in Menominee, Michigan. In World War II, he was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army Force Fourth Combat Cargo Group, and saw action in India and Burma. In 1948, he graduated from Beloit College, where he was a member and officer of SAE. In 1952, he graduated from Harvard Law School. After working in tax and audit with Ernst & Young in Milwaukee, he established a private practice as a tax attorney in Waukesha. He was a past president of the Waukesha County Bar Association. He served for many years on, and chaired, the Board of Bar Commissioners for Waukesha County for the Wisconsin Supreme Court Office of Lawyer Regulation. He was a co-founder of the City of Brookfield and served on their original Planning Commission. In Waukesha, he served as one of the founders of the Humane Animal Welfare Society (HAWS), a board member of the YWCA, and a president of the board of the Waukesha Symphony Orchestra. He was also a lifetime member of the Elmbrook Masonic Lodge and the Sons of the American Revolution. He was predeceased by his first wife, Marily Kroening, and a daughter, Marily Jean Langill. He is survived by his wife, Mary Langill; and children, Ross (Ellen) of Waukesha, Norman (Jane) of Seattle, Scott of Washington DC, Steven (Ginnie) Baier of Waukesha, and Virginia (Jon) Herbrand of Oconomowoc; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A memorial reception in celebration of Ross? life will be held on Friday, April 18, 2008 from 4:00 until 7:00PM at the Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha, WI. In lieu of flowers, donations should be sent to St. Matthias Episcopal Church, the Humane Animal Welfare Society (HAWS) in Waukesha, to The Clearing in Ellison Bay, WI, or to the charity of the donor?s choice.
