Robert Phillips

Of Pewaukee, died Friday, October 26, 2007 while on the scene of a fire in Athlestane, WI. He was born on September 3, 1943 the son of Harry and Margaret (nee; Bruss) Phillips. He was a graduate of Oconomowoc High School and joined the U.S. Navy from 1961 until 1962. In September 2006 he retired from Dueco-Dalum Utility Equipment Company, Inc. of Waukesha after many years of service. He also sold fire trucks for Johnson Fire Equipment and for Marion Body Works and sold fire gear and equipment for Flemings Fire 1, Inc. in Stone Bank. Robert had a great passion for working in small town volunteer fire departments. He was a 23-year member of the City of Delafield Volunteer Fire Department working from 1966 until 1989, where he held the positions of Lieutenant, Captain and Assistant Chief. After retiring he spent most of his time in Athelstane, WI where he was a member of their volunteer fire department for the past three years. Robert also did fire inspections for Jerry Wendt of Oconomowoc. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Kathleen (nee; Lane) Phillips of Pewaukee, his daughter; Kim Schmid of Mukwonago, his grandchildren; Hannah R. and Skyler R. Schmid also of Mukwonago. He is further survived by his brother Roger (Laurie) Phillips of the Town of Delafield and his sister-in-law Sharon Lane along with other relatives and many friends. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother-in-law James Lane. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 31 from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha, WI. Services continue on Thursday, November 1 with visitation at the funeral home from 9:00AM until the 10:00AM Funeral Service. Burial will follow at the City of Delafield Cemetery.
