Rita Millious

February 12, 1943 — January 4, 2007

Waukesha-Rita Millious (Nee: Whettam) age 63, a life long resident of the Eagle-Waukesha area has gone to rest in the arms of the Lord following a courageous battle with cancer. Rita's family was the most important part of her life, and she will be sorely missed by her husband, David, of rural Waukesha; daughter, Kelly (Joseph) Beller of Eagle and son, Michael of Waukesha; grandchildren Joseph, Jr.; Justin, Jessica and Cody and great-granddaughter Adriana. Also surviving are a large, caring family: her sisters and brothers: Sally (Paul) McKenzie, Dana (John) Beller, E.J. "John" (Cheryl) Whettam, Robert (Karen)Whettam, Paul (Kathie) Whettam, Warren "Bill" (Joan) Whettam and Michael and his significant other Marcia. She was preceded in death by her parents, Catherine and Edmund Whettam, sister, Katherine and brother, Thomas. Rita was a tried and true friend to many, as shown in the continued close relationship with her high school group known as "The Great 8." Friends Elaine, Bobbi, Jeri, Pat, Mary, Karen and Cookie were a great source of great fun for Rita, and strength when she needed it over the years. Now you are the magnificent "seven". For this she was grateful, as she was for the genuine friendship of her co-workers, such as Judy Anderson, with whom she shared rides, laughter and confidences everyday. Before her retirement, Rita taught in the Palmyra-Eagle school system for thirty years and to the end remembered the many wonderful young people and their families. It was her belief that you can teach more with your life than with your lips, so she tried always to set a good example for her students. Her students through the years may rest assured that she is handing out candy treats in Heaven. Rita's battle with cancer included employing a cyberknife procedure, orchestrated by Dr. Bastin of St. Luke's Hospital. She wishes for people to know that this extended the time that she had with her loved ones, and would encourage anyone faced with such a battle to explore new avenues of hope. The kindness of the staff at Waukesha Memorial's Oncology Department is greatly appreciated by her family. According to Rita's wishes there will be no formal funeral services. If desired, Rita asked that memorials be given to a fund for playground equipment for Eagle Elementary. Her dear friend Mary Marty will oversee this distribution. Please make checks to Eagle Elementary, 810 E. Main Street Eagle, Wisconsin 53119, earmarked for the playground fund in Rita's memory. Rita's good friend Karen asks that we remember this quote; "When I was born, everyone was happy and laughing, and I was the only one crying. When I died, everyone was crying and I was the only one happy and smiling." May her many friends and loved ones find comfort in that truth.
