Richard Fauerbach

November 25, 1925 — December 22, 2008

Richard Nielson “Dick” Fauerbach, age 83, passed away December 22, 2008.  He was born November 25, 1925 in Madison, the son of Walter and Margaret (nee Nielson) Fauerbach.  He became a machine tool apprentice at age 18 at Gisholt Machine Co. in Madison.  Dick served in the Army Air Force during World War II. On June 28, 1952 he married Mary Gorman in Oregon, WI.  They moved to Waukesha in 1958, where they raised three daughters.  Dick continued as a regional sales representative for Gisholt.  In 1972, he started his own business, Waukesha Machine & Tool Co.  He retired in 1993. He was a charter member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Waukesha; a long time volunteer, a head usher, and a leader in the church's Capital Fund Drive.    Dick was the "Lookout Water Commissioner." He was an avid fisherman and hunter, with fond memories of goose hunting trips to Canada.  He especially loved spending time at the family's cottage in Minocqua.  His warmth, sense of humor and kind heart made him friends wherever he went. His is survived by his loving wife and caregiver, Mary, their three daughters, Mary Ellen Aspenson of Waukesha; Ann (Robert) Smart of Waukesha and Kathleen (LaVerne) Best of Orangeville, Illinois.  He is the proud grandpa of Michael Smart of Big Sky, Montana; Jeffrey (Holly) Smart of Waukesha; Kaitlyn Best and Eric Richard Best of Orangeville, Illinois; Peter Aspenson of Waukesha  and great-grandpa to Tanner and Landon Smart.  Dick is further survived by his sister Ann Gibson of Madison, sisters-in-law Margaret Fauerbach, Alice Fauerbach and Corinne Fauerbach all of Madison and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents, his brothers, Phillip, Walter, Edward, David Fauerbach and his sister Mary Spohn.  His family wishes to express their thanks to Dr. Martin Kern as well as his office manager Mary, his dialysis staff as well as the attending nurses on the 5th floor of Waukesha Memorial Hospital.  Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2008 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 225 S. Hartwell Ave., Waukesha.  Family and friends are invited to call at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral Mass at 1:00 p.m.  The Very Reverend James T. Volkert will preside.
