Maynard Nelson

Maynard H. Nelson, of Waukesha, died Thursday, July 23, 2009 at Waukesha Memorial Hospital at the age of 88. He was born on September 22, 1920 in Hustler, Wisconsin, the son of Halver and Stena Nelson. Maynard served his country in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945, and later was united in marriage to Amy Burkhalter in Rockford, IL on July 3, 1948. He was employed at Miller Brewing for 25 years until retiring in 1982. He was a longtime member of St. Mark’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Waukesha. As an avid card player, he enjoyed playing cards at the Wisconsin House. He loved to hunt and fish and especially enjoyed his home on the lake in Tomahawk. Maynard will be deeply missed by his wife, Amy Nelson of Waukesha; his daughter, Malinda (Michael) Malison of Waukesha; grandchildren: Terri Malison of Milwaukee, Michael (Kimberly) Malison of Milwaukee, Jeffery Malison of Lomira, Danielle (John) Shaltis of Waukesha, Amy (Zachary) Walters of Waukesha, and David Helser of Waukesha; great-grandchildren: Naomi, Hannah, Isaiah, Alexis, Riley, Ty, Cooper, Ashley, Taylor, Austin, Bailey, Cade, Elise, and Robert; brother, Marshall (Sharon) Nelson of Waukesha; sister, Aleda (Ron) Taylor of Rockford, IL; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Deborah Helser on February 2, 2009. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 26, 2009 from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM at Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha. Visitation continues on Monday, July 27, 2009 from 9:00 until the 10:00 AM funeral service also at the funeral home, with Rev.
