Mary Remeikis

August 10, 1921 — December 20, 2007

Mary E. Remeikis, age 86, died on Thursday, December 20, 2007 at AngelsGrace Hospice. She was born August 10, 1921 in New Lisbon, WI the only child to Emile and Mabel (nee: Fortun) Ross. Mrs. Remeikis was a graduate of New Lisbon High School and was a 1943 graduate of Whitewater State Teachers College. After moving to Waukesha, she taught at Barstow School and later at Banting Elementary School retiring in 1986. She was a longtime member of Delta Kappa Gamma sorority holding the offices of secretary and president and was a member of the Waukesha County Teachers Association where she held office of president. Mrs. Remeikis was an active member of First United Methodist Church, where she also belonged to the Norma Craven Circle. On June 16, 1944 she married Frank Remeikis, he preceded her in death in 1972. She will be sadly missed by her daughters, Linda R (James) Low of McFarland, WI and Lois (Mike McNett, MD) Remeikis of Chicago, IL. She is further survived by her dear granddaughters, Elizabeth (Jason) Anderson of Stevens Point, WI; Sarah (Danny Strom) Schultz of Brooklyn Park, MN and a special great-granddaughter, Toren Elizabeth Anderson. Visitation and services will be Sunday, December 23, 2007 at First United Methodist Church, 121 Wisconsin Avenue from 12:00 PM (noon) until the 2:00 PM Funeral Service. The Rev. Kris Androsky presiding. Graveside services will take place at Highland Memorial Park on Monday, December 24, 2007 at 9:30 AM.
