Marvin E. Strunk

Marvin E. Strunk, longtime town of Brookfield resident, died on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at AngelsGrace Hospice in Oconomowoc at the age of 86 years. He was born on August 8, 1927 in Hebron Township, Fort Atkinson, WI the son Max J. and Anna (nee Viegut) Strunk. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fort Atkinson. On June 17, 1950 he married Verna Mae Schober at Peace Lutheran Church in Cataract, WI; together they celebrated over 51 years together until her death in March 2002. Marvin was a member of Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church of Waukesha where he served as an usher. He was a member of Aid Association for Lutherans, of Waukesha Federal Credit Union and National Association of Federal Retired Employees. His employment included Gettelman Brewery and Allis Chalmers Mfg. Co. in Milwaukee. He retired from the Waukesha Post Office, after 29 years of walking a mail route. Following his retirement, Marvin enjoyed working as an election poll worker for the town of Brookfield and as a part-time greeter at Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral Home. He was an avid volunteer, volunteering at Wisconsin Lutheran Synod Office Building in Milwaukee, at the Regency Assisted Living and LindenGrove Nursing Home and delivering meals on wheels. Marvin will always be remembered for his kind and gentle nature and big heart and will be deeply missed.

He is the dear father of Charlene (Robert) Williams of Norway, MI, Wesley (Kristen) Strunk of West Bend, Jeffrey (JoAnn) Strunk of Rhinelander and Lesley (Pamela) Strunk of Oconomowoc. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and two step-grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and 2 step-great-grandchildren along with other relatives and many dear friends. In addition, to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter Kathleen Shepherd, his brothers Arnold, Harold and Donald in infancy.

Visitation will be held Friday, September 6, 2013 from 4:00PM until 7:00PM at the Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Avenue, Waukesha. Visitation continues on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church, 1052 Whiterock Avenue, Waukesha from 8:30AM until the time of the 10:00AM funeral service. Pastor Scott Oelhafen will preside. Burial will be held at 12:45PM at Highland Memorial Park in New Berlin. Please meet at the cemetery entrance.
