Lois Hippenmeyer

February 27, 1922 — March 10, 2011

Lois T Hippenmeyer, longtime Waukesha resident died on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at her home at the age of 89.  She was born on February 27, 1922 in Milwaukee the daughter of Carl and Anna (nee Keller) Thalman.  Lois Married Charles M Heyer on June 28, 1941.  On January 2 1965, she married Richard S Hippenmeyer.  Lois was very involved with Carroll College where she attended school.  For many years she was the Vice-President and the Interior Designer at Tingle and Associates in Waukesha until her retirement in 1979.  She was the second woman to be elected as an alderman for the City of Waukesha, since 1922 when the first woman was elected.  Lois was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Waukesha.  She served as President of the Spring City Garden Club.  Her love of flowers was evident in her many plantings and landscaping at her Eagle River home, including the building of a very large picket fence around the front of her property.  She also designed and was active in the construction of her kitchen addition.  This special place became the center of many family gatherings and party's for Eagle River neighbors - referred to as her Peninsula Party's.  She will always be remembered for her zest for life, love of travel, meeting new people, and helping others. She will be missed greatly by her daughter Stevie (Dick) Martin of Merrill and her son, Chip (Theresa) Heyer of Waukesha, her grandchildren: Robin (Chad) Voelker, Randee (John) Blanchard, Jessica Heyer, Jennifer Heyer, Charlie Heyer and Erika Heyer, her great-grandchildren: Ryan, Maddie and Lilly.  She is further survived by her brother Robert Thalman of San Francisco CA. along with nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her first husband Charles M Heyer in 1962 and her second husband Richard S Hippenmeyer in 1979 and sisters, Alice Purdy and Marge Brugman. Lois requested that at the time of her death, a party be held because funerals were not her thing.  Therefore a Celebration of Life Reception will be held on Saturday, March 26th 2011 at the Golden Gate Restaurant - 1427 E Racine Avenue Waukesha.  This party will be held from 12:00 to 4:00 P.M.  If desired, memorials are appreciated to the Food Pantry of Waukesha County, 1301 Sentry Drive, Waukesha WI 53186 or GRROW ( Golden Retriever Rescue of Wisconsin), PO BOX 84 Watertown, WI 53094.  For further information, please call Randle-Dable Funeral, Cremation and Preplanning Services at (262) 547-4035, or go to www.waukeshafunerals.com for directions or to leave an on-line tribute or story.
