Leo Kerstein

November 19, 1915 — February 29, 2008

WAUKESHA- Leo M. Kerstein, of Waukesha, died February 29, 2008 at Markesan Resident Home in Markesan at the age of 92. He was born on November 19, 1915 in Mukwonago to Frank and Bertha Kerstein. He was a 1933 graduate of Mukwonago High School. Leo proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married the former Margaret Patey in Waukesha on June 28, 1946. He had worked as a painter, but most recently he worked at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in the facility maintenance department. He was an avid golfer and golfed at Moor Downs and Browns Lake. He enjoyed seeing the group of golfers for the morning round at Moor Downs. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Waukesha. He will be sadly missed by his daughter Kathleen (Robert) Moore and son Charles Kerstein both of Waukesha. Dear grandfather of Patrick and Samuel Kerstein both of Waukesha, Jason (Katie) Moore of Richfield and Shelly (Paul) Flaten-Moore of Ixonia and great-grandfather of Caleb and Caden Flaten of Ixonia. He is further survived by sisters-in-law Myrt Hubman of Waukesha and Verna North of Burlington, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret on May 14, 2004, brothers Frank, Edward, Rudy and Henry and sisters Clara Mitten, Mary Roberts and Helen Wittag. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 3 from 5:00 pm until the 7:00 pm funeral service at Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha. Graveside services, with full military honors, will take place on Tuesday, March 4 at 11:00 am at Prairie Home Cemetery. Please meet at the cemetery office.
