He was born in Wausaukee, Wisconsin on September 3, 1918, the son of Charles J. and Emma (nee Hoersch) Pettey. He was married in 1941 to the former Dorothy Tompitch, she preceded him in death and he then married the former Lucille Meier in 1974. She recently preceded him in death on January 6, 2017. Larry was a proud United States veteran, serving in the Army under General Patton during World War II. He remained active as a veteran as a member of D. J. Lawrence was in the first class of permanent deacons in the Milwaukee Archdiocese and was ordained as a permanent Deacon and assigned to St. Mary Catholic Church in Waukesha. He very much enjoyed serving the parishioners of St. Mary’s.

In addition to his first wife Dorothy and his second wife Lucille, he was preceded in death by his step-son, Michael Golemgeske, and his brothers and sisters.
