03/11/1962 – 03/04/2015
Have you ever seen the sunrise over the Rockies? Ken “Redskin” J. LaChance of Mukwonago, did, he said “it was like being in heaven”. He was killed in a tragic industrial accident on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at the age of 52. He was born in Milwaukee on March 11, 1962 the son of Kenneth and Patricia (nee Rasmussen) LaChance. On October 20, 1984 he married his long time love and best friend Cindy Schaefer in Waukesha. He worked for many years at Spancrete Industries as a heavy haul trucker and the last few years at Waukesha Iron and Metal coordinating the introduction of the heavy equipment repair shop. His skill and ability to diagnose, detect and repair any mechanical problems was uncanny, and he passed that same ability, skill and love for machinery on to his sons.

Ken loved nature. In his words: “The next time you see a deer running across a field or a hawk soaring in the air, think of me, I will be close by.”

Ken “Redskin” loved Harley Davidsons, his passion was motorcycling with family and friends. He held a special place for veterans and law enforcement organizations. He will always be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, outstanding father, grandfather, brother and best friend to many.

He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, and best friend of over 30 years, Cindy LaChance of Mukwonago and his sons Craig LaChance of Mukwonago and TJ (Tiffany) LaChance of Waukesha. He was the very best grandfather of Callie, Gunnar, Olivia, Harley, Colt, Layla and Amelia LaChance. He is further survived by his sisters, Kathleen (Wally) Olver of Mukwonago, Cynthia (Michael) Bakos of Mukwonago and Lori (David) Cottrill of New Berlin, his brother-in-law Greg (Tina) Schaefer of Oconomowoc, his best friend since kindergarten, LeRoy Murnane, his dogs Roxy, Taffy and Gracie and cat Buddy along with aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Theresa Ralston, nephews Paul Olver and Patrick Bakos and his father-in-law and mother-in-law Kenny and Carol Schaefer.
