John Dequardo

July 29, 1933 — June 19, 2012

John A. DeQuardo, a lifelong Waukesha resident, died on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at Seasons Hospice at the age of 78. He was born in Waukesha on July 29, 1933 the son of John J. and Elsie A. (nee Ossman) DeQuardo.    He proudly served in the United States Army. John worked as a Waukesha County Sheriff’s Deputy from 1957 until his retirement in 1992. He also worked for the School District of Waukesha for 15 years, retiring in 1991. He was a member of the Waukesha Elks Lodge #400 for 33 years, a 48-year member of the American Legion DJ Martin Post 8 where he was Commander of the Legion for 5 years and was the 100% Early Bird winner twice. He attended St. William Catholic Church.   John will be sadly missed by his wife Karen (nee Murphy-Heinrichs) of Waukesha, whom he married on September 25, 1989, his children: Dr. John R. and Karen L. (Coppersmith) DeQuardo of Aurora, CO; Pamela J. (Thomas W.) Butz of Delafield; Jean M. (Thomas J.) Smith of Hartland, WI and Sarasota, FL; Kathleen A. (DeQuardo) Wilson of West Allis; Joseph D. DeQuardo of Waukesha; and Barbara S. (Peter J.) Stachowski of Mukwonago. John’s step-children are Lynn (Greg) Wall of West Allis; Kathleen Heinrichs of West Allis; Leslie (Ken Wirth) Heinrichs of Fox Point; and Michelle (Timothy) King of Middleton. John’s grandchildren: Alyson M. (Nikolas R.) Thompson of Ann Arbor MI; Emily A. (Jesse) Dillon of Fort Collins, CO; Kenneth J. Butz and John J. Butz of Delafield; Eric J. (Allison Fischer) Smith of Hartland; Kyle T., Alex J. Smith, and Andrew J. Smith of Sarasota, FL; Jennifer L. Wilson; and Timothy J. Wilson of West Allis; Kirsten J. DeQuardo and Klaire E. DeQuardo of Waukesha; and Matthew C. Stachowski and Morgan L. Stachowski of Mukwonago. John’s step-grandchildren are Derek Julien of Waukesha; Emma King of Middleton; and Kenny Wirth and Michael Wirth of Fox Point. John had four great-grandchildren: Miles J. Thompson of Ann Arbor, MI; Dominic D. Dillon of Fort Collins, CO: and Tessa M. Smith and Makenna L. Smith of Hartland. He is further survived by his sister, Sister Monica Mary DeQuardo (Kathleen Margaret) of Rome, Italy, a Franciscan Sister of Christian Charity of Manitowoc, WI. John has one living aunt Angeline Ossman of Orangeburg, SC, along with many, many cousins, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his baby brother Donald J. DeQuardo.  Visitation will be held on Monday, June 25, 2012 from 4:00PM until the 7:30PM Elks Lodge of Sorrow Service followed by the Parish Vigil Service at Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Avenue, Waukesha. Services continue on Tuesday, June 26 beginning with prayers at the funeral home at 9:30AM followed by a procession to St. William Catholic Church, 440 N.
